Green Home Focuses On Efficient Exterior
Reprint from Usa Today.com 4/30/2010
Wendy Koch’s green home uses passive solar design to maximize solar gain and well-insulated walls and windows to minimize energy needs. It will also have recycled materials, Energy Star appliances, CFL/LED light fixtures, dual-flush toilets, low-flow faucets, xeriscaping and a cistern for reusing water.
This house is using SeriousWindows, as owner Wendy Koch says “We’ll save almost as much energy as we would have with geothermal by switching from double-pane Jeld-Wen windows to super-efficient Serious Windows, which have an insulating film.”
