Windows come in many sizes and shapes. They can be fixed or they can open several ways. Let’s take a look at the various styles.

Fixed Frame or Picture Window

Refers to windows that are non-venting

In a Single Hung Window, only the bottom sash moves vertically. In a Double Hung Window, both sashes move.

A bay window is made up of three or more windows. The side units project out from the building in 30, 45, or 90 degree angles. The center is parallel with building wall and is made up of one or more windows. All the windows can be stationary, operating, or any combination thereof.

A series of four or more adjoining windows, usually five, installed on a radius from the building.


Of course there are innumerable shapes and sizes of windows, rounds, semi circles, trapezoids etc. – these usually called GEOMETRICS by the contractors.
